it's official---I am excited!

So as I was going through my clothes and decided what items would make this adventure with me, and thinking about the next phase of my life, I started getting really excited! I just feel like my "adult" life will truly begin in Spain, which is just an amazing opportunity. Not very many get an experience like this, and I need to treat it is an honor and understand the magnitude of what I am about to embark on. It's going to be a challenge, but I think any hardships will be wholly worth it in the long run. I am still going to prepare for the GRE in November, but ultimately I am able to live in Europe for as long as I wish. I am going to try not to think long-term (which is diff. for me), and really just try to live in the moment while I am there and as I prepare for my adult new beginnings in Espana. Viva Madrid!

less than a month away

Spain is slowly creeping up on me without any regard to if I am ready or "prepared" for the move. I know that I need to mentally prepare for it so I am not in complete culture shock, but I just feel like I haven't had any time to even think about any thing related to Spain. I am just not confidently ready to make the move at this point. Hopefully that comes with time.....

preparing to move across the Atlantic?

So how does one prepare to move to Europe for 10 months, or possibly 2 years? I have an apartment lined up, waiting for my visa, have all the logistics in order, but I feel like there is so much else that needs to be taken care of. I think I am mostly concerned because of the uncertainty of the next time I will be in the States. I could be gone for as long as 2 years, so I am not just visiting Spain, I am moving! People panic about moving to college, how about moving out of the country! Let's just cross our fingers that I work out all of the logistics before September 16.....

46 Days until I leave the U.S.

So after numerous requests, I have decided I will be writing a blog to document my adventures over the next year. I am new to the blog scene, but I going to make a real effort to update at least once a week. I hope my adventures provide some insight into life in Madrid as an Expat! I will keep everyone posted as I prepare to move across the pond for 10 months :)
